You need to elope in Bali. You NEED to! I have never been to a place that has been more magical, beautiful or (I know I’m basic but) AFFORDABLE. Like, I stayed in some super nice villas for TWENTY DOLLARS A NIGHT! Floating breakfasts! Personal drivers! Pools annnnnnd air conditioning! This island though small has SUCH a variety of different locations. From the beaches to the jungles to the fricken VOLCANO, there are so many amazing places to explore. Its so easy to find adventure in Bali, and there is an adventure for everyone! Not sold on Bali yet, keep reading!

Where Do We Go?

So there’s so many gorgeous places in Bali, jungle, cliffs on the ocean, waterfalls, bland sand beaches, the list is endless! If you’re looking for a waterfall, I’d suggest heading to Ubud. Nung Nung and Tibumana are some GORGEOUS waterfalls with not a long hike to get to and would be the perfect backdrop for your elopement. Ubud is also an amazing city, bursting with culture (and awesome food!) If you’re looking for a cliff with a view of the ocean, Balangan Cliff is a STUNNING option! The cliff stretches over the ocean and you can see waves and water stretching in every direction! You’re even able to rent this cliff and reserve it for your elopement! This place is super easy to get to and there’s no hike needed to get to it! If a beach elopement is what you want, there’s so many options! Canggu was one of my favorite places that I’ve ever been to. The beaches, the rock formations, the ACAI BOWLS! If you stay away from the tourist hotspots, you can have a beach to yourself and be able to explore the tide pools and trails in peace! All Bali beaches are public land though so if you pick a more popular beach, just be aware that there might be beach-goers in the background of your pics!

So When Do We Go?

The trick to getting cheap flights to Bali is going during the off season! The perfect off-seasons (that AREN’T rainy seasons!) are September-October and March April. These times of year are when accommodation and flights tend to be quite a lot less expensive! If you’re cool with a little rain, the rainy season is December and January in Bali. But even in the rainy season, showers only last a few hours and I actually LOOOOOOVE me some rainy romantic photos! (think Noah and Allie from The Notebook!) You might want to think twice before heading to Bali during the holidays though because that is a peak tourist time and prices are generally much higher!

What Do We Wear?

So as you may have guessed, Bali is HOT. (I recommend a sunrise or sunset elopement FOR THIS REASON!) So you’re going to want to wear as light of clothing as possible. A light flowy dress instead of a 30 lb barbie dress will keep you cool AND let you be able to move freely on your adventure! Instead of a 3-piece suit, ya might want to wear a light long sleeve collared shirt and a tie. If you’re eloping at one of the waterfalls, its important to have the proper footwear as well. Several waterfalls are only accessible by walking UP the river to the falls so you’re going to need some watershoes to keep your feet from getting cut up.

What Time Of Day Should We Elope?

So that is totally up to you! Do you see yourselves sleeping in, spending the day adventuring before ending the day with a sunset ceremony? Or would you rather beat the heat and the crowds and get married as the sun rises? Both ways are awesome, and also might depend on the location that you want to elope at. If you want to elope at a waterfall, it might not have the best lighting at sunset when most of the light has already left the forest. However, the beach is a great option for both sunrise and sunset because its easy to find a beach that faces the right way for the best light. Its a tiny island surrounded by beaches so its pretty convenient!

Who Should We Hire?

Wellllllll, ME as your elopement photographer OBVIOUSLY. Haha but if you’re uncertain of who to book for floral arrangements or dinner reservations, you can totally hire a planner! (Wed Bali is the best and super helpful throughout the whole process!) A hair and makeup artist can help you look your best day of and prepare your glam to withstand the heat of the day as well. The only thing I would say is DO NOT book a package deal from a hotel or a resort. These places are notorious for hiring inexperienced people and you might end up with a botched makeup look or a strange hairstyle if you do! The main people I would hire are: photographer, hair and makeup artist, and a florist for your bouquet! I usually advise couples not to get legally married in Bali and to get that taken care of back home. Indonesia is super religious and if you’re not in their religion, they will not recognize your marriage so its easier to do all of the legal stuff back in your home country!

Where Should We Get Ready?

I always suggest booking your locking through Airbnb, I was able to find some amazing deals on villas and the lighting and the privacy are usually better than in a hotel or a resort! Here is one of the places I stayed at when I was in Bali last time!

So there you have it! You are well on your way to planning your dream Bali elopement! I want to help you in any way I can so reach out if you think that we’d be a good fit!
