Jökulsárlón means "glacial river lagoon" and it is a large glacial lake in southern part of Vatnajökull National Park. Located at the head of the Breiðamerkurjökull glacier, this gorgeous lake developed into a lake after the glacier started receding from the edge of the Atlantic Ocean. Now it is a stunning location to view the icebergs and kayak among them.

The Diamond Beach is a strip of black sand belonging to the greater Breiðamerkursandur glacial plain, located by Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon on the South Coast of Iceland. This place is so cool to visit because many icebergs wash up onto the shore of the black sand beach, creating this amazing contrast. The beach stretches on for miles so its easy to find a private place to elope here, but be warned! Its super windy so you and your partner will want to stand quite close to be able to hear each other's vows!

Londrangar and the hill Svalthufa in the Snæfellsjökull National Park are the remains of what used to be a crater, and has since eroded to its currant shape. The farmers in the area apparently never make hay on the hill, because it is said to belong to the elves living in the area. Yes, I looked for them, no, I unfortunately didn't see any!

This church is such an amazing place for an elopement, so private and beautiful, not close to anything at all. The land around the church is also gorgeous, covered in strange grass and puffy moss! The Buðir black church is one of the three black churches on the island. They're apparently black because they're painted with pitch on the exterior, just like the hull of a boat. This protects it from the harsh Icelandic elements. It works pretty well, I guess, because these buildings have survived for over 100 years!

This epic plane wreck on the black beach in South Iceland. In 1973 a US plane crashed on the black beach at Sólheimasandur after running out of fuel, in the South Coast of Iceland. Luckily, everyone in that plane survived but the plane was left here! Now, you can hike the 2 miles to the crash and explore the abandoned plane!
