So you’re planning your wedding, and it sounds great, but you see all of these amazing elopements online and think about how amazing that looks. You want the party, the big wedding, BUT you also love the idea of having an intimate ceremony with just you and your husband. Is it possible to do….BOTH? It totally is!

If you want to elope AND have a wedding, usually your elopement is done first. You and your fiance plan a day/weekend/week that you want usually a month or so in advance of your wedding. You guys go on your adventure, have the day that perfectly reflects you guys as a couple, and make tons of memories that you’ll have forever.

THEN several weeks later, you guys have a huge party with all of your friends to celebrate your marriage. But what if your parents are upset that they’re missing out on your ceremony and you’re not inviting them to your wedding? You can totally do another ceremony as well, you don’t need to make it JUST a party! To make your elopement ceremony special, maybe only say the standard vows on your ceremony and keep your personal vows for just each other!

Another reason to have your elopement a month or so before your wedding is so have PICTURES of your elopement printed out and on display at your wedding! Being able to share your amazing photos with people is such a fun way to share your adventure with them!

BUT you can always do your elopement AFTER your wedding. I get lots of people that fly somewhere for their honeymoon and want to elope on their trip. You’re already married (legally, which makes it easier paperwork-wise!!), but maybe you want to experience an intimate adventure with your spouse and say your heartfelt vows in a breathtaking place! Lots of couples forgo vows on their wedding days because of nerves but writing and saying personal vows to each other is such a special experience and its so sad to miss out on that!

Elopements are such a special time with you and your partner and it gives you the FREEDOM to do what you want, without worrying about guests, timelines, catering, ANY OF THAT! You can plan an adventure that reflects you guys perfectly and enjoy a day thats just for YOU. Elopements let you enjoy a stress-free day where the entire focus in on you two. Then, when your wedding comes, it doesn’t MATTER what happens because you’re already married! You already had your day, it doesn’t MATTER that the harpist didn’t show up because you already had the perfect day.
