Check out this amazing Mount Baker elopement at Picture Lake for tons of Washington mountain elopement inspo!!

Marissa and Stanley truly experienced an elopement-day MIRACLE when the wildfire smoke cleared out for their ceremony. Their day was stunning, from their cozy A-frame cabin to their picturesque ceremony to the first dance they had in the mountains.

These two met at a reggae brunch one Sunday while Marissa was enjoying a post-morning-run carb & mimosa reload with her girlfriend. She ordered a second mimosa for a touch of liquid courage once she decided she wanted to say hello to the handsome man at another table – they struck up a convo and the rest was history!

Stanley proposed to her while they were away on vacation in Turks and Caicos, having a romantic dinner at a restaurant on the island they were staying at. They sat under a grove of palm trees decorated with strings of lights and Stanley took full advantage of the amazing setting + asked her to marry him!! The cutest story ever.

Marissa + Stanley’s Picture Lake Elopement at Mount Baker

Marissa and Stanley’s elopement happened during a time where there was wildfire smoke EVERYWHERE in Washington. Seriously, level red air quality everywhere in the mountains. But when Marissa was checking the smoke map, she saw a tinyyyy non-red sliver near where we were going. She thought it must be a glitch, but sent me a screenshot anyway.

We didn’t get our hopes up but we sent all of the non-smokey vibes out as we drove up the mountain in thiiiick fog. But to our shock, when we pulled up to Picture Lake, IT WAS CLEAR!! We couldn’t believe it – we could see Mount Shuksan completely clearly from the lake! It was an elopement-day miracle.

After getting ready at their adorable A-frame cabin & doing a super sweet first look, Marissa and Stanley held their ceremony in front of the picturesque (see where the name comes from?) lake in private. They played some audio from their twin daughters on their phones during it, and then read their vows. Before exchanging rings, they braided a three-strand rope to signify that they and & God were in it together. It was a really special ceremony to witness!

They celebrated making things official with a delishhh cake + a first dance in the mountains. We took some photos on the little stone bridge nearby, then headed up to Huntoon Point for some super stunning bridal portraits with the snow-capped mountain peaks in the background. Truly can’t believe we got such a beautiful day despite the smoke filling the sky everywhere else!!

About Picture Lake

Picture Lake is one of my favorite spots in the Mount Baker Wilderness Area because of how easy it is to access! All you gotta do is follow a quick, zero-foot-gain, ADA-accessible path around the lake and you’ll get amazing views of Mount Shuksan + reflections of the landscape in the water on a clear day.

Their Mount Baker A-Frame Cabin

Marissa and Stanley were suuuper smart and rented the most adorable, rustic 70’s A-frame cabin in Deming, WA for their elopement. They were able to use the cabin to get ready in + as a stunning spot for their first look, plus all of their details were super gorgeous when I laid them out on nearby tree trunks!

This cabin is a perf option for couples looking to elope at Mount Baker or stay in Deming for their North Cascades elopement. It sleeps 4 guests so you can stay there by yourselves or invite two of your besties along, or host a few more guests there for an evening celebration in the woods. There are 2 bedrooms, 2 beds, and 1 bathroom, along with a large deck for your ceremony or just to relax in the morning while sipping your coffee.
