I met up with Abby and Jesse in the middle of the afternoon on one of the rainiest days in April. Now if you know me, you know that rain is my freaking dream. SO moody. SO romantic. SO PNW. It is EVERYTHING, and I LIVE for a good rainy shoot. Luckily, living in Washington, that does tend to happen. BUT not as much as you’d think! This year has been uncharacteristically nice, and I’ve had to shoot in the sun more times that I’d like. (sensitive eye club, you feel me!) SO anyway, I was pumped about the weather and so we headed out on our hike. Abby and Jesse are actually into murder and mystery podcasts TOO, so we had tons to talk about, and the location we were at actually has a few mysteries of its own, so the hike went pretty fast while we were chatting about the largest unsolved bank robbery in Washington.
We began shooting when we got to a huge rock formation, and right away I noticed some people walking around behind the rocks. No big deal. But then they walked BACK down the trail behind the rocks. And then back again. Basically just being sort of strange and sliiiiightly freaking me out because they didn’t say anything when I yelled back to them that if they wanted to walk by us they totally could. STRANGE. So they were back there being creepy and I was trying to capture the CUTENESS in front of me and Jesse and Abby were heating up the forest with their chemistry!
The weird people eventually came down ANOTHER trail and stopped as soon as they saw us. “Hey, you can totally go by us!” I said/yelled to them. But they TURNED and went back up the trail AGAIN. Ok, bye Felicia. But I did notice that they had a dog so maybe they weren’t as weird as they were acting. We didn’t see them again for a while though, and meanwhile, the rain had STOPPED and the sun was actually beginning to shine through. It was actually super pretty, and nothing can beat sunlight shining through a magical forest!
Finally the weird people showed up again and this time shuffled on by us and continued down the trail we had come up on. They didn’t say anything AGAIN, but at least they weren’t lurking in the rock formation anymore, and we could go explore it!
