This day was the fricken best. Me and Andrea and Eli, headed up to Saddle Mountain for a quick hike at what happened to be an actual HIKE hike. Not a quick hike. We were mistaken. RIP our legs. And Andrea’s curls. Sorry boo. Saddle Mountain is surprisingly close to Cannon Beach, and also has a view of the beach from the veryyyyyy top of the hike. The great thing about Saddle Mountain is that there are views EVERYWHERE. Which is kinda great, kinda scary. the side of the cliff has a huge drop. I was scared. But I tried my best not to show it because Andrea and Eli seemed unfazed. I hope they couldn’t sense my fear.
So when we started the hike, we were under the impression that the view was about a mile into the hike. So we began hiking, and right away, it was STEEP. My legs were like “girllll, we haven’t trained enough for this”, but we preserved. After a mile and now view, we knew that we had been hustled, scammed and bamboozled. The hike was much longer than previously thought. After a whole ass THREE MILES later, we arrived at the top, huffing and puffing. (I don’t actually know if Andrea and Eli were huffing and puffing as I was huffing and puffing too hard to notice. For my own self esteem, lets say they were)
When we began shooting, I was basically just swooning over how adorable they were and how amazing our backdrop was. We kept taking breaks to check out our view and point out what we could see in the distance. There were so many mountain peaks that we were ABOVE as well as the ocean and surrounding lakes. The view seriously couldn’t be beat. Somehow hikers kept coming up from the STEEPEST part of the mountain, and surprising us all because A, we didn’t even know that there was a trail that went down there and B, it was SUPER steep. Were they mountain goats? To be determined.
After some photos on the cliffs, the sun began to set, and they pulled out their vow book to say their vows to each other. Andrea shed a tear as she read to vows aloud to Eli, and they shared the same book to keep their promises in one place.
When we finally finished, we had to RUN down the mountain before we would be hiking in the dark. For some reason, we were convinced that there were bears in the woods, and we were getting more and more nervous as it got darker and darker. We made it to the parking lot just as the sun had gone down much to our relief!
